The Silver Award is the second highest award a Girl Scout can earn. This award is for Cadette level scouts who are in the 6th, 7th and 8th grades.

Working on the Silver Award helps us become strong leaders in our community.  We see homeless persons as vulnerable citizens in our city, and we want to assist in their well being.  We believe that fewer people take interest in helping the homeless, and we think we can make a difference.

With 1500 homeless persons in Birmingham, we learned that their having backpacks containing essential resources can help protect them.  These backpacks are specifically designed for persons who are homeless.  The backpacks are water proof, have lots of pockets, and have straps that stay secure on them.  Each backpack has a poncho for when it rains.

We hope to collect lots of backpacks, then we will distribute them through the Firehouse Shelter and One Roof.  Thanks for your support!
